NetApp Insight 24 - Day 2
New storage systems
Some new platforms were announced with a focus on the new All SAN Array systems (ASA1K - ASA90 - ASA70) which have been re-engineered with simplicity at their core.
Aggregates are no more with these systems as they use a single storage pool from both controllers from the client's point of view. This is enabled by some flex-aggregate magic and ownership is tied to LUNs instead of disks and aggregates. ONTAP System Manager has been modified to simplify storage provisioning and management.
New FAS systems (FAS70 / FAS90) were anounced as well as a refresh for older platforms like the FAS8200 or FAS9000.
AI-powered ransomware protection
With ONTAP 9.16.1, Autonomous Ransomware Protection is now using AI models to detect attacks on your system. Besides, the models will be updated independently from your ONTAP software so you can get protected faster.
As it seems, this new ARP was awarded a AAA rating from SE Labs regarding ransomware protection with some really high scores.
Really looking forward to it.
They also presented BlueXP Ransomware Protection that comes on top of ARP and BlueXP Worload Security to manage everything from a single pane of glass with easy recovery and recommendations.
AI
Krish Vitaldevara, SVP for Shared Platform, continued to share the new AI innovations from NetApp.
NetApp is becoming a bridge between your data and IA by providing a NetApp AI Data Engine. This will help to get your data ready and available for your models to work with.
He also announced that NetApp will offer a disaggregated storage architecture with disks that could be share by several HA pairs to improve performance when necessary in the future. That's quite a big change to come !
Here you'll find the full keynote.
